Who’s On The Reg?

You may be wondering who this particular “guy on the reg” may be, and I’m here to tell you. I’m Michael West, but as most friends (and even some parents) do, they call me “Dub” which originated from the first syllable in my last name, the letter W (sound out the letter W and you’ll know what I’m talking about). Plenty of people forget what my real first name is, so just in case, call me Dub, it might just be easier on all of us. I am currently a junior here at Arizona State and I’m a broadcast journalism major with hopes of one day becoming a sportscaster, particularly a play-by-play man for my hometown favorite Angels. I’m a California-grown kid, born in Los Angeles and raised in good ol’ boring Irvine. I wanted to get out of California for a change and have loved every minute of it here in Arizona.

Here are some of the basics about me that I feel define me pretty well:

  • Sports. This guy loves him some deportes. Except for hockey. Haven’t been able to get in to hockey. But if you throw something baseball, basketball, football, and now maybe even something soccer-related at me, then you’ve definitely got my attention. My favorite teams are…
  • The Angels, Chargers, and Clippers. Yes, that doesn’t say “Lakers.” Yes, it says the freakin’ Clippers. I’ve heard every joke in the book about the Clippers and how god awful they always are but hey, one day they may play .500 ball. One day…. If I’m not talking sports, then I’m probably eating at…
  • In-N-Out. Try telling me a better place to go to to get fast food. You can’t. The combination of unbelievable food quality, unmatched service, and an easy-on-the-wallet price makes In-N-Out unbeatable. You could’ve guessed by now but this is no doubt my favorite place to eat. My order: a double meat plain, a fry well down, and a chocolate shake. Oh baby that gets me hungry just thinking about it. If I happen to not be eating at In-N-Out, then I’m probably sitting down somewhere eating…
  • Mexican food. Get me started with the chips and salsa and I straight up won’t have room for the actual meal I ordered. I’m searching for some good chips & salsa, carne asada/carnitas tacos and albondigas (meatball) soup. I’m on the lookout for the best Mexican food spots in the valley so if you know of any, please holler. After I slip deep into a food coma from that Mexican smorgasbord, I’ll probably be motionless on the couch watching…
  • Movies & TV shows. There’s nothing quite like a good movie. Especially if it involves getting a big ol’ bag of popcorn with however much butter you choose on it… sounds like heaven to me. Some of my personal favorites in the movie department are: Happy Gilmore, Step Brothers, Old School, The Dark Knight, Rookie of the Year, Role Models, What About Bob?, Tropic Thunder… I could keep going but you get the hint that I love a good comedy. For TV, I’m a big fan of: Eastbound & Down, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, SportsCenter, Pawn Stars, and SpongeBob SquarePants to name a few. I don’t care if I’m in 20s, I still laugh as hard as I did when I was watching SpongeBob at age 12.

That’s just a little bit about me, so hopefully you now have a better idea of who the guy that runs this blog really is. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy what I put up on here!
